Employer Course Creation

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

Added more tools for course creation from within employer accounts. Now employers can

  • Edit the course description
  • Enter course metadata
  • Enter the course references - shown when “Ref” button pressed
  • Enter the course glossary - shown when the “Glossary” button pressed
  • Edit the course exam

This is an incremental step towards being able to create whole courses online within LearningMeasure.com.

What remains is to enter the course outline (what is seen when the “Index” button pressed) and course pages, which will take a bit longer to complete.  Of course when completed, this will be added to educator accounts.

Certificates of Completion

Monday, January 11th, 2010

A long requested feature has been added to LearningMeasure.com, certificates of completion. I have been reluctant to do this, as it would be difficult to create a certificate that couldn’t be spoofed. What I have decided to do is to create a certificate that explains how to validate it.

When you complete a course a gold medal ( ) appears next to the course number in the screen that shows the courses you have signed up for. Clicking on this icon will cause a PDF certificate of completion to be emailed to the email address that you entered when you registered as a student. This email address can be changed in your settings if it is incorrect.

On this certificate is the URL of your online resume, which contains your training record. One can validate the certificate by verifying the course appears in the training record, as is explained on the certificate. This is only visible however if your subscription is current.

We hope you find this a useful feature.

Progress on LearningMeasure.com

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

We have made some more changes to the homepage of LearningMeasure.com. It is now possible to register as a student on the homepage if desired.

A new category of classes have been added to the course catalog. The first in a series of fundamental physics classes has been entered. It has been requested that some of the basic physics that are the foundation of measurement be included in some of the course material. We plan on a fairly extensive series of basic physics courses to be developed over the next few years, in addition to other courses on our list. The first class in this section of the course catalog is

PHYS50 -  Introduction to Vectors

A vector quantity is one that has magnitude and direction. This course covers some of the basics of vectors and mathematical operations that can be performed on them.

More Changes to LearningMeasure.com

Friday, January 1st, 2010

Spent a good part of today implementing features and making bug fixes to the code that runs LearningMeasure.com.
Finished implementing educator entered training feature. Also all places where one can view training records now shows all employer and educator entered content.

Fixed some bugs with bid review mechanism where bidders resume and training record information was being displayed incorrectly.

Officially ended the one week trial period, no new accounts will have a free trial period, instead they will have access to a portion of the course catalog for free to base their decision to decide on subscribing.

Please, if any of you out there have a feature request, or know of any bugs, or want us to develop a specific course, let us know. We value feedback, and use it to decide what to implement next.

Employers Can Now Enter Employee Training Records

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

A new feature has been added to employer accounts that allows the entry of training into their employee training records. The ability to enter and delete individual entries on the employees training record is done by selecting an employee record from the employee records page at
http://www.learningmeasure.com/employers/cgi/lmviewemployeerecords.pl

and then go to the employee entered training section after selecting an employee.

This can be used to record third party training or even in-house training. This information is editable only by the employer and not by the employee. It is also visible to anyone who would look at the employees resume, and remains on the employee’s resume as long as they are listed as an employee.

Consultant Network Progress

Friday, April 24th, 2009

We have just introduced a new feature into the consultant site at LearningMeasure.com. Now you can enter a consultant profile on LearningMeasure.com. This is the first step in a series of improvements to our consultant network.

If you are a consultant in a technical field, we would like you to join our network. We are trying to build a network of consultants where we can mutually refer customers, and that you can promote your business on LearningMeasure.com. This can either by being part of our searchable consultants gallery, or by developing course material for us that will link back to your profile and business websites.

All we ask is that you maintain your student subscription, and occasionally we will ask for a fee for sending some tasks your way.

There are features yet being developed to try to be useful to our consultant network. Stay tuned for more progress reports.

News Migration Finished

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

The new LearningMeasure.com blog is now fully operational. This blog replaces the LearningMeasure.com news page, which is archived here. If there are any issues please let us know. Now you can comment or ask questions on our news posts or announcements.

The migration of our news and announcements to a WordPress blog has been planned for a long time. The primary difficulty was integrating the WordPress blog into the site in such a way that it was consistent with the site’s look and feel, and frankly having the available time with the other projects that are in-work. We are pleased with the results, hopefully it will result in a better experience for our curtomers.

We are always looking for comments on any aspects of this site, and now there is an additional mechanism to give us feedback.
